McManis Faulkner congratulates partners Abimael “A.J.” Bastida, Brandon C. Rose and Hilary Weddell on their selection as fellows of the Litigation Counsel of America. Bastida, Rose and Weddell join partners James McManis, William Faulkner and Elizabeth Pipkin as named fellows in the prestigious society.
The Litigation Counsel of America (LCA) is a trial lawyer honorary society composed of less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. Fellowship in the LCA is by invitation only and highly selective – based on excellence and accomplishment in litigation, both at the trial and appellate levels, and a superior ethical reputation. Senior Fellow status is reserved for lawyers who demonstrate advanced levels of commitment and support of the LCA, the Diversity Law Institute and the Trial Law Institute.
“We are thrilled to see A.J., Brandon and Hilary selected as LCA fellows. McManis Faulkner takes great pride in developing lawyers’ trial skills and encouraging them to succeed in the courtroom. All three have become outstanding trial lawyers, and their selection as LCA fellows is an additional tribute to their trial prowess,” said Pipkin.
Bastida has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in business, criminal and employment-related disputes. He also has experience with civil rights, probate and trust litigation, and representing high-level executives in white-collar matters. He earned his J.D. (2014) with a High Tech Law Certificate and his B.S. in Engineering (2011) from Santa Clara University.
Chair of McManis Faulkner’s award-winning Family Law Group, Rose is a certified Family Law Specialist recognized by the State Bar of California. He handles complex family law matters, resolving property and business disputes, as well as contested child custody and support issues. Rose received his J.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School (2009) and his B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles (2004).
Weddell represents individuals and companies in civil matters, including contract and employment disputes, business torts, fraud, commercial real estate actions, class actions, and shareholder and partnership disputes. She also has extensive experience in employment litigation. Weddell earned her J.D., cum laude, from Boston College Law School (2013) and her B.S. from San Jose State University (2008).
