Paralegal Jairo Bustos was invited to speak as a panelist for a second time for a class of recent San Jose Police Academy graduates. The panel event supplements one of the academy’s courses, dedicated to educating future police officers on the culture and living experiences of East Side San Jose’s residents.
The course, taught by community prosecutor, Byron Suarez, is part of the ongoing efforts of the City of San Jose to prepare incoming officers for the realities of the communities they will serve.
The panelists of professionals from the East Side community discussed their positive and negative experiences growing up in the region in an effort to address unconscious biases and debunk common stereotypes.
