For over 20 years, McManis Faulkner has been a proud supporter of San Jose Museum of Art. When the “With Drawn Arms” exhibit came to our attention, the firm knew this was the exhibit we wanted to help bring to our San Jose community. This collection was inspired by San Jose State University runner Tommie Smith’s courageous act of protest during the medal ceremony at the 1968 Summer Olympic Games. His fist in the air brought international attention to the struggle for civil rights in the US and would be viewed around the world for decades. We hope that people in the community will take a moment to celebrate Smith and view art from this collaborative series from Los Angeles based conceptual artist, Glenn Kaino.
