James McManis Discusses the California Public Records Act on L.A. NPR

On February 6, 2017, James McManis joined KPCC's AirTalk with host Larry Mantle to debate the California Supreme Court case Smith v. City of San Jose and its implications. The case involves Ted Smith’s filing of a public records request for all communications related to a San Jose downtown development. City officials claimed private devices were not covered by the California Public Records Act. The California Supreme Court is expected to decide the question in March.
