Jim McManis attended The International Academy of Trial Lawyers (IATL) mid-year meeting in San Francisco. The IATL meets annually for the free interchange of new ideas and innovative approaches in the science and art of jurisprudence. This year, topics included the tension between science and religion in America, natural sources of drugs for cancer, and the legal obstacles involved in getting such products out of other countries. Also covered at this meeting were the legal and policy issues surrounding the struggle of countries trying to reclaim stolen antiquities. Political humorist, Will Durst provided a little comic relief.
Membership in the IATL is tightly limited. Fellows invited to join must possess the highest levels of integrity, honor, and professional courtesy, in addition to truly exceptional trial ability.
