In his article for the Daily Journal titled “The Twilight of the Courts,” partner James McManis reviews the impact on trial practice from the COVID-19 pandemic from his personal experience. Jim explains that because of the lockdowns, “we learned about Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Blue Jeans and all the other accoutrement of the new trial practice.”
On whether the legal practice will see a return to the pre-COVID era of trial practice, Jim says, “Probably the answer is ‘yes,’” though the industry will continue to be “burdened with technology.” He concludes, “the prognosis for a return to trial practice circa 2019 is guarded.”
