Representative Matters

  • Prevailed against federal government in first trial ever to challenge the constitutionality of terrorist watchlists, including the No-Fly List.  The case involved a former Stanford PhD student from Malaysia who was erroneously watchlisted and barred from returning to the United States.  After eight years of litigation, including two dismissals by the district court, two reversals from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal, and a week-long trial, our client’s name was finally cleared.
  • Successfully defended a major Silicon Valley networking company against contractual claims arising from asset purchase transaction.
  • Obtained favorable defense verdict for employer in a retaliation, harassment, race, national origin and sex discrimination case after a two-week jury trial in Northern District of California.
  • Secured summary judgment for plaintiff in a case of first impression, seeking public records from local council members’ electronic devices under the California Public Records Act.
  • Successfully challenged the constitutionality of campaign finance ordinances imposing temporal restrictions on election contributions, resulting in judgment against local governmental entity.
