Tyler represents plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of civil cases and complex disputes. His clients range from individuals and closely held businesses to Fortune 500 companies. In each case, Tyler endeavors to understand thoroughly his client’s needs and work efficiently to obtain the best results possible. He also frequently assists in crisis management, counseling corporate and executive clients in sensitive matters that require careful handling.

Representative Matters

  • Successfully defended the national governing body of a U.S. Olympic sport in multi-million dollar action.
  • Obtained an $11.2 million recovery and separate medical expense settlement in a personal injury case involving more than eight defendants.
  • Secured hard-fought restraining orders for national corporate clients.
  • Successfully argued motions on behalf of major U.S. company in a case resulting in a judgment in favor of his client in excess of $80 million.
  • Coordinated electronic discovery for a law firm after sanctions were issued against its attorneys in one of the most significant electronic discovery cases in U.S. history (Qualcomm v. Broadcom). Tyler’s work contributed to the lifting of massive penalties against the attorneys.
  • Successfully recovered sums paid through early settlement on behalf of a major telecommunications client that was overcharged under the terms of a commercial lease.
  • Obtained a sizeable judgment for an elderly couple swindled by a financial planner and his controlled parties, avoiding the emotional toll a trial would have taken on his elderly client's family.

Professional and Community Contributions

Tyler serves as the managing attorney for the Legal Counseling Office, Associated Students of Stanford University. A member of the civil practice committee for the Santa Clara County Bar Association, Tyler previously served as the executive editor of the Journal of Legislation. Currently a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, St. Thomas More Society, UCSC Alumni Association and American Economic Association, Tyler served on Notre Dame Law School’s Honor Council and volunteered extensively with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.
